Term Lookup. Bilingual termbase management.
Manage your bilingual terminology with Lookup, a free and portable Windows app. Create future-proof termbases that speed up the translation process by improving accuracy, consistency and quality. Import existing termbases to the application, or export them to facilitate integration with your favourite CAT tools.
Lookup can manage huge termbases safely without the need of installation. Merge all your glossaries into one, or use different instances of the application for specific fields. Sort results alphabetically (ascending or descending) and by language. Manage terms of any length or even loan words or symbols thanks to Lookup's UTF-8 charset implementation.
Save your old glossary as "oldglossary.txt" using the UTF-8 encoding. Then, open Lookup and type !tabs (if your English and Spanish terms are delimited by tabs) or !colon (for terms delimited by colons). Lookup will create a new file called "glossary.txt". Use the IMPORT button to create your new termbase.
A look back. First Lookup version.
The early version of Lookup was a portable application that could read the contents of glossaries stored in plain text. It sped up term lookup by simultaneously searching the contents of multiple bilingual glossaries stored in current and nested subdirectories and displaying the English and Spanish term, side by side in a Command Prompt window.
